Gloria Ann Baylis

Gloria Ann Baylis, age 84 of Detour Village, Michigan died on November 28th, 2021, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on June 21st, 1937, in Mason, Michigan to parents Lyle and Bernieta Osterberg.

Gloria spent her youth in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Everett High School, Lansing, Michigan. She went on to obtain her Associates Degree of Registered Nursing from LCC in Lansing, Michigan. She then met her future Husband Richard Baylis, they Married on November 4th, 1984, in Ionia, Michigan. Together they worked in construction and electrical work. They moved to Detour Village, Michigan in 1986 where they worked and lived for over thirty years.

Gloria loved her home, she enjoyed gardening, building flower beds, keeping up with her yard work, cooking wonderful meals and canning. She also loved having her friends and neighbors over for coffee daily. Gloria enjoyed crocheting Afghans and Dolls. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and in the evening doing Jigsaw puzzles together. Dick and Gloria Baylis were members of the Detour Village Presbyterian Church and for many years were also Sextons of the church.

Gloria is survived by her Husband of Thirty-six years, Richard Baylis; Stepdaughters, Dena Baylis of Lyons, Michigan; Brenda (Jim) Stahl of Farmington, Michigan; Lisa Baylis-Shafer of Lyons, Michigan; Brother and Sister in-laws Betty (Ronald) Vining of Portage, Michigan and Thomas (Judy) Baylis of Ionia, Michigan. Lloyd (Joann) Baylis of Belding, Michigan and Dianna Rowley of Ionia, Michigan.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Bernieta Osterberg; Children Mark and Gary Brasseur, Grandson Shawn Brasseur; Siblings Ronald Osterberg; Father and Mother in-laws Ervin and Doris Baylis. Sibling in-laws, Dale Baylis, Evelyn (Douglas) Sherwood, Jack (Emily) Baylis, John Baylis and Vern Rowley.

Final Resting place is Maple Grove Cemetery with her son, Gary Brasseur and Grandson, Shawn Brasseur.
