At about 5:50pm on Thursday, a 73-year-old Sault Ste Marie woman was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Ashmun St and Dawson St. She was in serious condition at the scene and taken to War Memorial Hospital were she succumbed to her injuries.
The vehicle involved was a Jeep SUV and the driver of the Jeep remained on scene and was not arrested. Upon completion of the investigation, the report will go the the prosecutor’s office for review.
The victim was 73-year-old Sharon Kennedy. Sharon has served as Chippewa County’s Register of Deeds & Equalization Director for 40 years.
