Rudyard advances to first semifinal since 1963 (with photos)

The Rudyard Bulldogs boys’ basketball team advanced to their first semifinal since 1963, as they defeated Carney-Nadeau, 76-48, in a Division 4 quarterfinal, on Tuesday at the Sault High Gymnasium.

Rudyard (18-2) had five players score in double figures, as they outscored the Wolves, 48-28 in the second half. Austin Warner and EJ Suggitt scored 16 points each, Cam Peterson had 13, Tate Besteman 12, and Hayden Mills 10.

Rudyard will take on Wyoming Tri-unity Christian (13-2) in a Division 4 semifinal on Thursday, at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids at 10:00 am. You can hear that game on Country 105, or online at country105fm.net, with Scott Nason and Ray Bell, starting with the pregame show at 9:30 am.

The winner of that game will advance to the Division 4 State Final on Saturday at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, against either Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart (20-1) or Detroit Douglass (15-5) on Saturday at 10:00 am.
