Obituary For Randy Cobe
Randy Cobe, age 78, of Rexton, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 24, 2024.
Randy is survived by his wife, Darlene Cobe; three sisters, Deanna (Pat) DeKeyser, Shirley Glass-Paquin and Linda Novenske. Randy and Darlene were blessed with a long and loving marriage of almost 61 years and shared in the lives of their three children, Wilfred (Nicole Formolo) Cobe, Randy (Linda Raye) Cobe, and Diane (Patrick) Bricco. Randy was a devoted grandfather to Charles, William, Belynda, Dylan, Morgan and Mary Jane and two great-grandchildren, Breanna and Collin. Many nieces & nephews had the honor of calling
him Uncle Randy. Quoting Morgan “He is my Hometown Hero [and] an inspiration to me”.
Born in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Charles “Wilfred” & Violet Cobe, Randy spent his childhood in Rexton and then made his way to Livonia, Michigan, for work where met the love of his life. After working as a baker and then at Chevrolet near Detroit, Michigan, he returned to Rexton to work alongside his father cutting timber.
Upon Wilfred’s passing, it was Randy and his sons up at 3:00 a.m. in the dead of winter warming up the logging truck and getting ready for a hard day’s work. As the logging industry converted to newer and faster harvesting technologies Randy kept busy as a contractor, county road worker, Hudson County volunteer firefighter and retired from Sand Products in Epoufette, Michigan. A tinkerer, mechanic and carpenter, there wasn’t a gadget he couldn’t fix and was often the go-to guy around Rexton whenever someone needed a hand.
Randy loved to play golf with his son in-law, nephew and good friend Ed. He enjoyed traveling and spent
several winters in Florida. Known for his love of the woods there wasn’t an old logging road, two track trail or “guaranteed to get you stuck” mud hole that Randy didn’t know about. His and Darlene’s home was a yearly rest stop and fix-it spot to a gaggle of gals that made an annual wheelie trip from St. Ignace to mud around in the back woods of Rexton. He will be missed.
Randy was preceded in death by parents, Charles “Wilfred” & Violet Cobe, a baby brother; sister, Patsy Hart; brothers in-law, Larry Glass and Rod Novenske; sister in-law, Linda Berger; and beloved nephew, Willam “Billy” Lamb.
We love you, miss you and know that whenever the trees of the forest sing with the wind, it will be your voice we hear and your love we feel.
Services for Randy have not been determined. Your love and prayers are all that the family asks at this time.
