Two vehicle crash in Manistee County results in one dead

MANISTEE COUNTY, MI: On September 6 at approximately 9:12 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded to a twovehicle traffic crash on Harlan Road near M-115 in Cleon Township.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a box truck with two occupants, the driver, a 24-year-old man from Grayling, and the passenger, a 21-year-old man from Merritt, were traveling south on Harlan Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Jeep traveling southeast on M-115.

The Jeep was driven by a 49-year-old man, and the passenger was a 39-year-old female, both from Ohio.

The 39-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 49-year-old man was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. The occupants of the box truck were transported to the hospital, where they were medically evaluated and released.

Troopers believe that drugs may have been factor in the crash and remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted by the MSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, Northwest Wexford Emergency Authority, Mobile Medical Response, Wexford County Animal Control, and Peterson‘s Towing.
