HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI. On August 5 at approximately 12:30 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Calumet Post responded to a traffic crash on US-41 near Golf Course Road in Osceola Township.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV driven by a 45-year-old female, with two children as
passengers, was traveling south on US-41 and was not aware that a pickup truck ahead of her was
stopped while waiting to turn onto Golf Club Road. To avoid a collision, the driver entered the northbound lane of US-41, where the SUV collided with two motorcyclists.
Both motorcyclists, a 65-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman from South Carolina, were killed in the
collision.
The driver of the SUV and the children were evaluated at the scene by EMS and released.
