OTSEGO COUNTY, MI. On August 9 at approximately 7:27 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to a motorcycle crash on Finnegan Road near Gingell Road in Charlton Township.
The preliminary investigation indicates that two motorcycles were traveling west on Finnegan Road
together. The riders were a 40-year-old man and a 60-year-old man, both from Johannesburg. It is
believed that the lead motorcyclist slowed down and was struck by the motorcyclist behind him, causing
the 60-year-old man to crash.
Troopers arrived on scene and immediately began lifesaving efforts. The rider was airlifted to the hospital
in critical condition, where he later passed away. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The other motorcyclist was uninjured.
This incident remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted by the MSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, Otsego County Sheriff’s Office,
Otsego County EMS, and Life Flight.
