Local Credit Unions Invite Community to Free Fraud and Cybersecurity Seminar

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Four Upper Peninsula credit unions are joining forces to help area residents recognize fraud, strengthen their online security and feel more confident responding to suspicious calls, messages and requests. Soo Co-op Credit Union, Limestone Financial Credit Union, 4Front Credit Union and U.P. State Credit Union will present Protect What Matters Most, a free fraud and cybersecurity seminar, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Sault Country Club in Sault Ste. Marie.

The seminar will feature Michigan State Police Trooper Brandon Smith, who will discuss current scams, fraud-prevention strategies and cybersecurity threats affecting consumers. His presentation will focus on practical steps people can use to protect personal and kk financial information, spot warning signs and reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

A credit union expert panel will follow the presentation, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions about fraud and account security. The session is designed to provide clear, useful information for adults of all ages, including older adults, caregivers and family members who help loved ones manage finances or technology.
