BARAGA COUNTY, MI. On August 10, at approximately 10:20 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Calumet Post responded to a traffic crash on US-41 near the Baraga Lakeside Inn.
The preliminary investigation indicates that as vehicledriven by a 66-year-old man was traveling southwest on US-41 when a 50-year-old woman entered the roadway on foot. The driver was unable to avoid her, and she was struck.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was medically evaluated on site and released.
Both individuals are from L’Anse. This crash remains under investigation.
