CALHOUN COUNTY, MICH. On Thursday, July 16, 2026, members of the Michigan State Police (MSP) Fifth District Fugitive Team arrested Christopher Popps, 54, on an outstanding homicide warrant originating out of Alaska.
The arrest occurred at a residence in Battle Creek after the team received a request for assistance from the Alaska State Troopers’ Cold Case Investigation Unit.
Through investigative efforts, fugitive team members developed information regarding Popps’ possible location and successfully located and arrested him without incident.
Popps was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Alaska.
MSP Fifth District Fugitive Team routinely works with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend fugitives wanted for serious crimes.
