Luce County, Michigan. Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Sault Ste. Marie Post
arrested a woman for allegedly unlawfully entering a home in Newberry and stealing property
from within the residence.
On June 3, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a report of a subject
who had allegedly entered a residence on John Street in Newberry without permission and stole
items from inside the home.
As a result of the investigation, troopers identified the suspect as 35-year-old Gina Briggs of
Newberry. Troopers located Briggs and recovered the stolen property. Briggs was arrested and
lodged in the Luce County Jail.
On June 5, 2026, Briggs was arraigned in the 92nd District Court on charges of Home Invasion
Second Degree. She was granted a personal recognizance bond, with tether and other standard
conditions. Her next court date is scheduled for June 18, 2026. The defendant is considered
innocent unless proven guilty.
