Frederic Man Arrested After Resisting Troopers

OTSEGO COUNTY, MI: Donald Dorsten, 51, of Frederic was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly
driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

Preliminary investigation indicates that on June 11 at approximately 10:45 p.m., troopers from the
Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the southbound I-75 ramp at exit 290 with its hazard lights activated. Troopers stopped to check on the driver.

Troopers observed open intoxicants in the center console and the driver showed signs of intoxication.
When troopers ordered the driver out of the vehicle, he refused to comply. Dorsten grabbed the steering wheel and braced his feet on the door frame in an attempt to prevent troopers from removing him. After a brief struggle, troopers were able to handcuff Dorsten and take him into custody.
Dorsten was arraigned on June 12 in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on the following charges:

• Two counts: Police Officer – Resisting and Obstructing
• One count: Operating While Intoxicated
• One count: Open Intoxicants in a Vehicle
• One count: Operate Without Security

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 18 at 1:30 p.m.
