Join LSSU and the Richard and Theresa Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education (Barch CFRE) Fish Hatchery crew on June 4th as we mark a major milestone: the 40th Anniversary of stocking Atlantic Salmon! This is a family-friendly event where you can learn about the partnership involved in raising Atlantic Salmon, how fisheries are managed, and how LSSU students help conserve our Great Lakes.
Schedule of Events:4:30 PM – 6:00 PM: Public Open House
Join us for a special celebration beginning with opening remarks from LSSU and our partners, followed by an official proclamation recognizing the Cloverland and Michigan Department of Natural Resources partnership for over 40 years. The celebration will continue with cake, refreshments, and guided tours of the hatchery and the Great Lakes Discovery Center (GLDC).
6:00 PM : Public Salmon Release
It’s time to head to the water! Help us celebrate four decades of conservation as personnel from the MDNR Platte River State Fish Hatchery begin the official release of this year’s Atlantic Salmon.
Cost: FREE and open to the public!

The Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education is located at 100 Salmon Run Way, next to the Cloverland Hydroelectric Plant along the St. Marys River.
