Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office Welcomes Michael Edwards as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

The Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office is pleased to announce that Michael Edwards was sworn in as
an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney on February 9, 2026.

Mr. Edwards brings more than 30 years of litigation experience to the office, including a decade devoted
specifically to criminal law. Over the course of his career, he has served both as a defense attorney and
as a prosecutor, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system from
multiple perspectives.

Most recently, Mr. Edwards served as the Prosecuting Attorney for Roscommon County from December
2022 until his transition to Chippewa County. His leadership experience and familiarity with criminal
procedure, evidentiary practice, and courtroom advocacy will be a valuable asset to the office and to the
community we serve.

Mr. Edwards earned his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1996.
“We are excited to welcome Michael to our team,” said Robert L. Stratton.

“His extensive litigation background and prosecutorial experience will strengthen our office as we
continue our commitment to public safety and the fair administration of justice.

The Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office looks forward to Mr. Edwards’ contributions in serving the
citizens of Chippewa County.
