New Electronic Medical Record and MyChart Portal Coming to MyMichigan Patients

Beginning April 6, a new patient portal, called MyChart, will replace the current MHealth (Meditech) portal for all future portal transactions such as self-scheduling, viewing your medical records or test results, messaging your provider, refilling prescriptions, online bill pay and more. Read on to learn how you can access your new MyChart account.

This new portal is part of a larger project in which MyMichigan Medical Center Sault is switching to Epic, the world’s leading electronic medical record system. This will connect our records and processes with all the other hospitals, doctors’ offices and outpatient care facilities across MyMichigan Health, enabling us to provide faster, safer, better care and communication. This change also applies to providers’ offices and outpatient facilities owned and operated by MyMichigan Medical Center Sault. We will migrate key information from your current chart to Epic, such as allergies, medications, future appointments and other data that we need to seamlessly continue caring for you.

Activating Your MyChart Account

For your protection, you will need an activation code to create a MyChart account. These codes are provided at patient visits or during other transactions that you conduct with us. Therefore, you do not need to take any action at this time. However, beginning April 6, patients ages 18 and older who have shared their email address or mobile phone number with us will automatically receive an activation code any time they engage in one of these transactions:

  • Scheduling an appointment at a MyMichigan-owned hospital, doctor’s office or facility
  • At check-in, sign-in, check-out, or discharge from a visit
  • On the after-visit summary that you receive during your visit
  • On billing statements for charges incurred April 6, 2024 or later

Activation codes expire within 60 days or when another transaction triggers a new code. Therefore, it is important that you activate your account as quickly as possible, using the most recent activation code. Be sure to provide accurate and up to date contact information at registration and keep your activation code in a safe location until you use it, since it provides access to your private health information.

Current MyChart Users

If you have recently received care at one of MyMichigan’s downstate facilities or at one of our local community partner sites, Mackinac Straits Health System or Helen Joy Newberry Hospital and Healthcare Center, you may already have activated your MyMichigan MyChart account. In that case, you will use that same account for future MyMichigan care in the Eastern UP.

If you already use the Epic MyChart app to access your records at other health systems not affiliated with MyMichigan, you will need to use the “add organization” button to select MyMichigan Health from the list and then use your activation code to create your MyMichigan account. When signing into the MyChart app, you can use the “switch organizations” option to toggle between different health systems where you receive care.
