ALCONA COUNTY, MI. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post received a complaint
alleging 33-year-old Brendan James Ryan from Swartz Creek had secretly taken photos of a woman he
knew, while she was unclothed and changing into a bathing suit last summer. The victim found the
suspect’s phone in the bedroom while she was changing. She saw a nude photograph of herself on the
phone. Several images of her were later discovered. A report was turned over to the Alcona County
Prosecutor’s Office and an arrest warrant was issued. Ryan turned himself in at the Alcona County Jail
on December 29, 2023.
Ryan was arraigned later that day in the 81st District Court in Alcona County on one count Surveilling
Unclothed Person and one count Using Computer to Commit a Crime. He was given a $10,000 PR bond.
