In the opening game of the weekend series the Indians jumped out to early lead on a shorthanded goal by Domonic Cicco in the first period, then Jordan Murray scored to put the Indians up 2-0 at the end of the period. In the second Marco Beaubien put a rebound home home for 3-0 which they carried into the third period, however in the third Honeybaked got on the board and added a second goal to get within one goal. The rest of the game Honeybaked pressed hard, but Nathan Maguire stood tall in net shutting the door and securing the win for the Indians 3-2.
On Sunday both teams battled back and forth throughout the first two periods, but in the third Deven Jones-McDonald found a loose puck in front of the net and buried it for the lead, assisted by Treyce Moran and Evan Hoglund. Honeybaked answered back with 4 minutes remaining to even the score sending the game into overtime. In the 4-on-4, 5-minute overtime both teams traded scoring opportunities but with 38 second remaining Jones-McDonald stole the puck off the boards and stepped to the middle and beat the Honeybaked netminder for his second of the game to give the Indians the win. Isiah Anderson played outstanding net to earn the win.
Next action for the Indians will be Saturday 3pm at the Pullar Staduim and a rematch 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel Arena.
