Pamela Rose Powers of St. Ignace, Michigan, left this world after a long period of illness on August 1, 2022. Pam spent her last weeks surrounded by those she loved – most notably the boy from Sophomore English class with whom she built a rich, beautiful life, Dell Powers.
Pam was a spirited, headstrong woman who loved fiercely. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1966, Pam and Dell were married the following year. They raised three children, Nikki, Kelli, and Gary. Pam took pride in her training and education at the Wright Beauty Academy and went on to work for the Marshall Courts. She was a dedicated member of the Sweet Adelines in Battle Creek and continued her membership in the Grand Rapids area when the family relocated. In their new city, Pam embraced an enriching career for 12 years at the Amway Corporation.
Their home in NW Grand Rapids was a vibrant and lively place where the grandchildren spent warm, cozy Christmases and sunny summer afternoons poolside. It was a joyful place and second home to grandchildren Harrison, Jessica, and Brandt. Pam and Dell then built their dream home in Newaygo – a stunning log home in the woods – in 2000. The vibrance and joy moved with them, and a fourth grandchild, Mason, joined the rest to build and cherish memories at Grandma’s house. In addition to the love of her life, three children, and four grandchildren, Pam was blessed with seven great-grandchildren – Gaven, Rowan, Kaia, Koda, Juniper, Lucia, and Mikka.
Pam continued and ultimately drew a close to her career at the Newaygo County Friend of the Court, when the high school sweethearts started their new, retired journey in St Ignace. Her passion for travel gave her the opportunity to see every US State with the exception of Hawaii. Her favorite places were National Parks in the Western states, specifically Yellowstone National Park. Pam also found passion in quilting, volunteering for the mission, and her faith as a member of the United Methodist Church.
The loss of this special woman has rocked the lives of everyone she ever met. Her life was not always simple, but she overflowed with gratitude and faith with every breath she took.
Her strength, devotion, and love will be celebrated at the First Baptist Church in Marshall, Michigan on August 18th from 5:00 -7:00 PM.
Another visitation will be held in St Ignace at the St Ignace United Methodist Church on August 20th from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM followed by a service at 1:00 PM. A private burial will be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be sent to the St Ignace United Methodist Missions Fund in her honor.
