Cadillac Man Arrested After Leading Police on Chase

A 39-year-old Cadillac man was arrested Sunday after leading law enforcement on a chase through downtown Cadillac and eventually onto M-115.

Around noon Sunday, officers from the Cadillac Police Department attempted to stop a Ford Ranger on north Lake Street near Haynes Street for having an improper license plate on the vehicle. The driver did not stop and attempted to flee, eventually turning north on M-115 and driving above the speed limit and nearly hitting several vehicles.

The driver was able to avoid spike strips deployed by a deputy with the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office on M-115.

The driver then turned onto south 31 Road and continued until he lost control on a curve and crashed the vehicle. The driver was injured and was transported to Munson Hospital in Traverse City for possible non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, a loaded handgun and drugs were found in the vehicle and the driver was found to have a revoked driver’s license. The office has sent a report over the Wexford County Prosecutor for review.
