In My Opinion …

This is definitely a trying time, not only for our country but around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic is something to be concerned about for each and every one of us.

I think the important thing to remember is not to lose our sensibility. What I mean by this is to follow the guidelines set before us by the CDC and our government. Keeping our hands clean, frequent washing of surfaces at home and work, self-quarantining if you are sick. The guidelines are in the newspapers, magazines, and on television and the internet. Following the guidelines put before us will help slow down this disease. It can’t hurt us – it can only help.

Don’t panic! Hoarding toilet paper, cleaning supplies, tissues, and food are only going to hinder things. I tried the other day to find one package of toilet paper and a carton of eggs. I couldn’t find them. I know I am not the only person that had this problem. Manufacturers are having trouble keeping up because people are buying cases of toilet paper, sanitizer, and food items and stockpiling them. When we do that others are hurt by this. Senior citizens that live paycheck to paycheck, people who get paid monthly, people out of work and let us not forget our veterans that don’t have the available funds to stock up are just some who are being harmed.

Don’t forget who we are as a nation. We are strong and we are capable. Let’s not forget our manners, our strengths, our empathy towards others. Let’s come together as a nation, as neighbors, and caring adults and help each other through this very trying time. Not everyone is as fortunate as some to stockpile goods so remember to share and help others who are hurting. Check on your neighbors by phone or by putting a note on their door. You can also email them or send a card or letter through the postal
service. It’s a good way to aid in keeping people’s spirits up. It lets them know they are thought of and not alone.

This is not the time to show our anger and frustrations. That won’t help a thing. Let’s show love and compassion to each other. Be an inspiration. Be kind and thoughtful. …and this too shall past. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
