Steven Donald Lawrence, age 69, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on June 30, 2026, at home. He was born on September 25, 1956, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Floyd Lawrence and Phyllis (Curtis) Lawrence.

Steven grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault Area High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy before settling in El Cajon, California. He later returned to Sault Ste. Marie, where he worked in customer service at Walmart, forming many lasting friendships with both co-workers and customers.

Steven had a deep love for fishing and enjoyed spending countless hours on the water. He was also an avid gamer, finding both entertainment and connection through his favorite games.

Steven is survived by his son, David (Cassie) Lawrence and stepson, Brian Lee both of San Diego, California; sister, Debra Kobes of Sault Ste. Marie, brothers, Jeffrey Lawrence of Tucson, Arizona, and David (Michelle) Lawrence of Mason, Michigan; nephew, Justin (Kelly) Kobes; and nieces, Amy (Simon) Dunn, Brittany Lawrence, and Kayla Lawrence.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Phyllis; brother-in-law, Ken Kobes; and nephew, Daniel Kobes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
