Sandra “Sandy” Kay (Baker) Hecht of Barbeau, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 79, at the Ball Hospice House of EUP. Sandra was born on July 7, 1946, in St. Johns, Michigan, to LeRoy and Daisy (Ferrenburg) Baker.

Sandy was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sault Saint Marie.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband and best friend of thirty six years, Ray; he called her bull headed as she was stubborn to a point, but loved her traits all through their happy years together; her children, Stanley (Jayme) and Lisa; step-children, Brian (Shawndel), Michael (Kristen) and Amy (Scott); sister, Joyce; and along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Daisy; and sister, Faye.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, with Pastor Jonathan Gumm officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday from 11:30 AM until the time of her service. Burial to follow immediately at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
