Raymond Lee Blackman, age 63, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on July 28, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 16, 1963, in Washington DC, to Alvin and Shirley (Smith) Blackman.

Ray grew up in Suitland, Maryland, where he graduated from high school before joining the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a commercial fisherman in Maryland before taking on a variety of jobs throughout his life. Ray enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places before eventually settling in Sault Ste. Marie to be near his mother.

Ray found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for music and treasured his collection of guitars, spending many hours playing them. He was happiest near the water, whether swimming or fishing, and had a special place in his heart for animals. His faithful cat provided him with companionship and comfort.

Ray is survived by his son, James Albring; siblings, Denise Currie, Tina Ackerman, twins- Cynthia and Herbert Ackerman, Richard Ryan, and Wanda Trosclair.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Shirley; and grandparents, Kurtis and Dorothy Walker.

Per Ray’s wishes, no services are being held.
