Michaelene Jo (Korzecki) Sullivan, age 78, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, entered into heaven on October 19, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault, surrounded by her family. Michaelene was born on January 11, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Joseph and Angeline (Korkus) Korzecki.

Michaelene graduated from Saginaw High School, where she enjoyed her teenage years driving her Volkswagen Beetle and bopping along to Elvis. As a Coast Guard wife, she lived near multiple bases before eventually settling in Sault Ste. Marie. After spending several years raising her boys, Michaelene graduated from Lake Superior State University and dedicated herself to helping others through her work with the Sault Tribe and as a food bank supervisor. Later in life, she owned a dog-grooming business and was among the early wave of women entrepreneurs on Etsy.

Michaelene's favorite pastimes were centered around her grandchildren and her beloved animals. She spent countless hours watching sports from the sidelines, baking cookies, and hosting sleepovers. Two causes, especially close to her heart were the local hospice chapter and PAWS/Chippewa County Animal Shelter. Michaelene adored animals, especially her own, and frequently adopted and fostered animals in need. She was also quick to scold her boys for pestering her cats and sending them scurrying under the bed!

Michaelene was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed a good polka, authentic Polish cuisine, and, of course, a Diet Coke on the side. A lifelong Catholic, she most recently attended St. Mary's Church.

Michaelene leaves behind a loving family legacy, including her two sons, David (Rebecca) Sullivan and Jeffrey (Cindy) Sullivan; grandchildren, Joseph (Chloe) Sullivan, Benjamin Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Rachel Sullivan and Samuel Sullivan; and great-grandson, Wesley Sullivan.

Michaelene was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Angeline; sister, Diane Welch; brother, Richard Chilton; infant son, Joseph; and the many beloved four-legged companions she cherished throughout her lifetime.

Michaelene will be remembered for her love of family, her compassion for those in need, her devotion to animals, and the many special memories she created with those she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
