Linda Sue (Konle) Monville, age 90, whose warmth and steadfastness anchored her family through
decades of cross-country moves and whose passion for music and community enriched the town of
St. Ignace, Michigan, died on April 28, 2026, with loving family and friends at her side. She was born
on January 23, 1936, in Petoskey, Michigan, the first child of Gerald and Florence Konle of St.
Ignace.

Linda’s early years in Northern Michigan instilled a deep sense of place that would draw her back
after years spent living across the United States during her husband’s military career. For 70 years,
she was married to John J. Monville (Lt. Col., US Army Ret.), accompanying him from coast to coast
as he served in the United States Army. Through each relocation, Linda created a sense of home,
offering continuity and support to her family, and forging lasting connections wherever they settled.

A graduate of Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she pursued her love of music, earning
a degree in Music Management as an adult student. Her lifelong dedication to learning and the arts
was evident in her involvement with the St. Ignace Public Library, where she played a pivotal role in
its establishment.

Linda was known for her many hobbies - knitting, sewing, gardening and for her avid reading. Her
kindness, strength, sense of humor, and love of her family and neighbors will be deeply missed.

Linda is survived by her husband, John J. Monville (Lt. Col., US Army Ret.); her children, Mike
(Annie) Monville of Nokomis, Florida, Jacqueline (Nate) Kato of Indian River, Michigan, and Mary
Kathleen (Eric Fredrickson) Monville of Arvada, Colorado; her grandchildren, John Monville, Eric
Monville, Josh Kato, and Jenny (Monville) Belligan; her great-grandchildren, Emilie and Ann
Monville; Leo, Will, and John Monville; and Hank and Melody Belligan; and her sister, Margaret
(Konle) LaRocque of St. Ignace, Michigan.

Linda was preceded in death by her aunt, Suzy Sherritt; her parents, Gerald and Florence Konle; her
sister, Susie (Konle) Murphy; and her children, Patricia, Peter, and Paul Monville.

A memorial gathering be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius
Loyola Catholic Church, 120 Church St, St Ignace, MI 49781. The memorial mass will follow
immediately at 11:00 a.m.

Linda’s final resting place will be at the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Cemetery, St. Ignace, Michigan.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring
comfort and peace to those who mourn her.
