Obituary For Kenneth F Stephenson
Kenneth F. Stephenson moved away from the arms of his earthly family into the arms of God on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Ken was born October 10, 1932 in Newberry, Michigan to William A. and Mabel E. (Collins) Stephenson, the sixth of their growing family. He graduated from Newberry High School in 1951 having played on Morley Fraser’s undefeated Hall of Fame football teams, individuals with whom he maintained lifelong contact, organizing reunions throughout the years.
Ken married his sweetheart, Donna A. (Warner) on February 23, 1952 in Newberry, and began a beautiful life together, centered on love, faith and family. Together they built a beautiful family and a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved.
Ken worked many jobs over his 93 years, often several at a time. After he retired from the Tahquamenon Area Schools with over 30 years of service including Maintenance Supervisor and bus driver, he continued to be occupied in gardening, woodworking, church and community projects.
Ken was an active member of the Newberry United Methodist Church, the Tahquamenon Area Sportsman’s Club, supporting the annual Tackle Party and Toastmaster’s. He was skilled in working with his hands and had a lifelong love of music that encouraged a family of singers.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Thelma, brothers George, Edward, Melvin, Albert (Buck), Robert and beloved daughter-in-law, Gini.
He is survived by his bride of 74 years, Donna A. (Warner), brother Francis (Punk), three children; K. Dale, Catherine M. and Donald J. (Chris); grandchildren Colleen (Nicholas), Kelly (Adam) and Colin (Darcy); 6 great granddaughters and 8 great-great grandchildren, all in whom he treasured and delighted.
Ken was a family man and counted all his nieces and nephews, blood or not, as equal importance in his heart. A special thanks to great-nieces Colleen and Carolyn.
A gathering of family and friends will take place Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Beaulieu Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Ken’s life will take place at the Newberry United Methodist Church on Friday July 3, 2026 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery.
