Obituary For Jerry Lee Murdick, Sr
Jerry Lee Murdick Sr., age, 80, of DeTour Village, Michigan, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1945, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Issac James and Iva Jesse (Fisher) Murdick.
Jerry entered the United States Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served his country. He married Lillian Pritzkow on October 8, 1966, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together, Jerry and Lillian made their home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where they raised their two children and built a life together.
Jerry worked for many years as a cable splicer for GTE and later Verizon. He and Lillian settled at Caribou Lake in DeTour, where Jerry was able to spend time enjoying the outdoors and the activities he loved.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He and Lillian spent many winters traveling to the Florida Keys, where they loved fishing in the ocean and would return home with plenty of frozen fish to enjoy and share. Traveling was another favorite pastime, but some of Jerry’s most treasured time was spent with his twin granddaughters.
Whether he was fishing, hunting, traveling, or simply spending time with his family, Jerry enjoyed a life centered around the people and places he loved most.
Jerry is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lillian; son, Jerry Jr. (Barb); granddaughters,
Kaylee Marie Murdick and MacKenzie Clair Murdick; and sister-in-law, Joyce Murdick.
Jerry was preceded in death by daughters, Valerie Ann Murdick and Ann Marie Monti; infant granddaughter, Christina Ann Monti; parents, Issac and Iva; and brothers, Roger Murdick, James (Marge) Murdick, Robert (Delores) Murdick, Otis Murdick, and Kenneth (Gladys) Murdick.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to his granddaughter's college funds. Send checks made out to "Bright Directions" to: Tom Brdecka, IHT Wealth Management, 55 S. Main street, Suite 296, Naperville, IL 60540.
