James Leroy Beedy, age 81, of DeTour, Michigan, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at home. He was born on June 6, 1944, in Montrose, Michigan, to John and Marguerite (Stevens) Beedy.

James grew up in Montrose and graduated from a night school. After graduation, he began working at Buick Motor Division. In high school, he met Janet Jacobs and the pair married on December 29, 1961, spending sixty-four wonderful years together.

James loved being outdoors, whether he was hunting or fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and treasured the moments he shared with them. One of his greatest joys was giving his great-grandchildren tractor rides every Fourth of July, creating memories they will forever cherish.

James is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Valerie (Tom) Newvine, Theresa (Brian) Cole, James Beedy Jr., and Steven Beedy; grandchildren, Tommy Newvine, Matthew Newvine, Ashley Greuling, Crystal Middaugh, Kelly Reid, Amber Fleming, Dylan Fleming, Nicole Beedy, Lauren Beedy, and Michelle Beedy; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wayne Beedy and Harold Beedy.

James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marguerite; sisters, Donna Holmes and Margaret Brunies; and parents-in-law, Kenneth and Florence Jacobs.
