Gloria Jean (Pavlat) Kangas, age 71, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on August 21, 2026, at Medilodge of Sault Ste. Marie. She was born on December 26, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Alois Rayfield and Katherine Margaret (Santigo) Pavlat.

Gloria grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Sault Area High School. She later dedicated her life to her family as a proud homemaker, finding great joy in raising and caring for her children and grandchildren. Her family was a central part of her life, and she cherished the time spent making memories with those she loved.

Gloria was a proud member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

In her free time, Gloria enjoyed playing cards, working on puzzles, and making trips to the casino, where she especially enjoyed playing bingo with Grandma Donna. She will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the many memories she created with those closest to her.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Anthony Kangas; son, Kevin Pavlat of Sault Ste. Marie; daughter, Tammy Pavlat of Appleton, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jordan Pavlat, Andrew Anderson, Katherine Pavlat, Alyssa Pavlat, Cameron Pavlat, and Kylee Pavlat; great-grandchildren, Serenity, and Troy; sister, Rosalie (Lynn) Armstrong of Sault Ste. Marie; brothers, James (Kathy) Pavlat of South Hadley, Massachusetts, Howard (Angie) Pavlat of West Virginia, Gene (Mar) Pavlat of the Philippines, Dale Pavlat of Michigan, and Phillip (Debbie) Pavlat of Sault Ste. Marie.

Gloria was preceded in death by parents, Alois and Katherine; and siblings, Larry Pavlat, Veronica CasKey, and Anton Pavlat.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 5, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM at the Niigaanagiizhik Ceremonial Building, located at 1 Ice Circle, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783.
