Obituary For Donald A Titus, Jr

Donald A. Titus, Jr, age 73, of Brimley, Michigan, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, surrounded by the unconditional love of his family. He courageously battled cancer for ten years, maintaining a strong spirit, positive attitude, and a steadfast faith. He was born on July 10, 1953, in Laconia, New Hampshire, to Donald Albert Titus Sr. of Beverly, Massachusetts and Patricia Asselin of Haverhill, New Hampshire.

Throughout his life, Don served others through his passion for cooking and baking. He attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, where he earned an Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Baking. He often shared stories of his time working for American Cruise Lines and the Yankee Silversmith in Connecticut, helping open the Copper Penny restaurant in California, operating his own bakery, Doughboy's, in Connecticut, managing bakery departments at grocery stores in both Connecticut and Michigan, and serving the students of Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, for more than ten years. He created beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends, crafted exceptional baked goods, and prepared memorable meals and feasts for anyone who graced his family's doorstep.

Don was known for his selfless devotion to his family and his lifelong service to others. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Sima Titus; his son, Kevin P. (Jenna) Titus; his cherished grandson, Warren P. Titus; brothers, Gary (Brenda) Titus and Frank (Joann) Titus; sister, Melanie Titus; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Judith (John) Block, John F. (Mary) Sima III, Lawrence (Kathy) Sima, Raymond (Cindy) Sima, James (Jackie) Sima and Robert (Deb) Sima; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. (Sheila) Titus, Sr.; mother, Patricia Bourque; brother, David L. Titus; and his beloved in-laws, John F. Sima II and Lois A. Sima.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129 Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. A prayer service will follow from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

Also, visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 6769 M-221, Brimley, MI 49715, the Funeral Mass will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m.

Don was supported and cared for by so many kind and compassionate people throughout his battle with cancer, especially Cowell Family Cancer Center, University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan, MyMichigan Medical Center Saul particularly the ICU, Emergency Department, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and Laboratory), and the Pharmacy and Medical teams at Bay Mills Health Center. The level of care, kindness, and support shown to Don and his family was truly extraordinary.

The Titus family also extends its heartfelt gratitude to their extended family, friends, community members, and fellow Red Sox fans for their unwavering love, support, and cherished memories.

Don will be so greatly missed for his empathy, love for others, dry and well-timed sense of humor, strength of character, and ability to face life's challenges with courage and determination.

When Don was asked how he kept fighting as long as he did, he replied: “I’ve come this far, I’m not giving up now.”
