Obituary For Deborah Lee Jones-Parish

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and grandmother, Deborah Lee Jones-Parish passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 67. She was born on February 26, 1957, in London, West Virginia, to Gilbert Jones and Anna (McKenzie) Jones.

Debbie was a resident of Bay Mills, Michigan. She married Danny Parish, and they shared fourteen years together. Her work career was rich and varied. She was a police officer for the West Virginia Sheriffs’ Department for thirteen years, in addition, she worked for the Department of Interior to work on the West Virginia Locks. During her years in Cincinnati, Ohio, she worked for lawyers, and in 2004 she moved to Bay Mills Township to work for Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery. Debbie was a devout animal lover who liked to cook, travel, camp, and ride in the trails of the Hiawatha National Forest with friends and family. She was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Debbie was a kind and loving person who would give anything she could to those in need.

Debbie’s loving memories are left to cherish by her beloved husband, Danny F. Parish, 66, of Bay Mills; sister, Barbara Mae Riley, of Silver Spring, Maryland; step-daughter, Misty Sylvester, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; daughters, My’Asia A. Barnes-Parish, of Sault Ste. Marie; Sy’Niyah Michelle Barnes-Parish, of Bay Mills; Angelique Dani Barnes-Parish, of Bay Mills; granddaughter, Justice Marie Lee Parish, of Sault Ste. Marie; nephews, Ivan K. Scott, of Saginaw, Michigan; N’Gai Scott; David A. Scott, of Saginaw; and John (April) Taylor, of Kernersville, North Carolina; niece, Stephanie Adams, of Maryland; and one very special cousin Hubert S. Jones “Peter Rabbit” of West Virginia, as well as three brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna McKenzie-Jones and Gilbert Jones; sister, Patricia A. Scott; brothers, Stanley Jones, and John Taylor; nephew, Freddie Riley Jr “Mann”; and brother-in-law, Freddie Riley Sr.
