Darlene M. Jorgensen, age 86, of Brimley, Michigan, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Jackie Kusmierz, in Webberville, Michigan, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren. She was born on January 25, 1940, to Russel and Gertrude (Fegan) Curtis.

Darlene worked as an insurance agent before finding her true calling at the Soo and Brimley Post Offices. She loved greeting every person who walked through the door with her trademark smile, a warm hello, and more often than not, a short story. She had a gift for making people feel seen.
She loved to travel, but she also cherished the quiet moments at home, watching the deer and birds on the property and spending time with her beloved dogs.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Steve Jorgensen; children, Trudie (Greg) Mohr of Mayville, Michigan, Joe (Jackie) Kusmierz of Webberville, Michigan, Troy (Jen) Jorgensen of Fowlerville, Michigan, and Mark (Sue) Moeller of Fennville, Michigan; grandchildren, Kiel (Danielle) Hett, Derek Hett, Shane Kusmierz, Cruis (Samantha) Kusmierz, Madison Kusmierz, Mazi Jorgensen, Halli Jorgensen, Sarah Moeller, Joseph Kusmierz Jr., and Jacques Kusmierz; great-grandson, Weston Hett; many nephews and one beautiful niece.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Gertrude; brother and sister-in-law, Russel and Barbara Curtis; and granddaughter, Nika Kusmierz.

We were all so blessed to have her as a wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend for the 86 years she walked this earth. Now, she is surely in Heaven, telling stories, while God Himself tries to get a word in edgewise.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783, with the Funeral Service to follow beginning at 12:30 PM.
