Clayton Lee Rand, age 77, of Kinross, Michigan, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Medilodge
of Sault Ste. Marie in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan He was born on September 28, 1948, in
Jackson, Michigan, to William and Nevalee (Helmer) Rand.

Clayton grew up in Jackson and graduated from Northwest High School. He later worked for the
Michigan Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant at the Kinross Correctional facility until his
retirement in 1999. He was highly respected among the prison community. Clayton was known
for helping everyone and anyone who asked for it.

Clayton truly enjoyed spending time with his family, where there was never a shortage of
laughter. He loved teasing those around him and always knew how to have a good time. He
always was quick with a joke and took nobody’s shit. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing,
playing cards, especially Euchre, and relaxing with a good adult beverage. Clayton was an avid
pool league player and treasured the many friendships and memories made throughout the years.

Clayton is survived by his children by marriage, Carolyn (Pete) O’Neil of Washington, Wanda
(Kevin) Clifton of North Carolina, Gary (Kathy) Elliott of Idaho and David (Traci) Elliott of
North Carolina; grandchildren, Kristan (Chris) Brady of Kinross, Heather Laughlin of Lake City,
Michigan, David Petitpas of Lake City and Joslynn Rizzo of Sault Ste. Marie; great-
grandchildren, Hannah Brady, Gordon Parish and Ean Brady; and sister, Rebecca Rand of
Jackson, Michigan.

Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and parents, William and Nevalee.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Clayton’s final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce, Township, Michigan.
