Obituary For Charles Arthur Legault

Charles Arthur “Chuck” Legault, age 55, passed away peacefully at his home in Engadine on March 25, 2026. He was born in Manistique, Michigan, on October 6, 1970, to the late Pete and Ruthann (Shaw) Legault.

Chuck was raised in Engadine and graduated from Engadine Schools in 1989. He continued his education at Bay de Noc Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. On August 6, 1994, he married his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Rushford, at the United Methodist Church in Newberry. Together, they lived in several places before returning to the Engadine area to build their home and raise their family.

Chuck had a naturally competitive spirit and a lifelong love of sports. He ran track and played football in school, and later enjoyed bowling, softball, and throwing darts. One of his greatest joys was watching his sons compete in their own sports. Throughout his life, Chuck worked a variety of jobs before retiring from the Department of Corrections in 2016. He was a proud member of the Sons of the Legion. His love of the outdoors and hands-on work led him to start a small family beef farm around 2009, where he took great pride in raising and selling his cattle.

Chuck found happiness in the simple pleasures of small‑town life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time outdoors. He loved visiting with family and friends, telling stories, joking around, playing cards, and tinkering in his garage. Whether he was building something, relaxing with a good television show, or making memories with the people he loved, Chuck embraced life with an easygoing warmth that drew others to him.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his sons, Devon (Reagan Davis) and Andrew; his siblings, Georgette Legault, Leigh (Dan) McGill, and Peter Legault; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, April 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Engadine Methodist Church. Memorial services celebrating Chuck’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Tim Miller officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation in Chuck’s loving memory.
