Obituary For Arthur Harold Teske

Lifelong Newberry resident Arthur “Art” Harold Teske, 92, passed away Monday morning, July 13, 2026, at his residence with his loving family at his side.

Born December 24, 1933, in Engadine, Art was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Bessler) Teske. On June 21, 1958, he married the love of his life, the former Ruthie Spincich, beginning a marriage rooted in devotion, partnership, and deep affection.

Throughout his lifetime, Art worked in several roles that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to his community. His employment included U.S. Steel, Bancroft Dairy, Leonard’s potato farm, and the Luce County Road Commission, where he served until his retirement.

Art was a proud and longtime member of the Newberry Fire Department, serving for 26 years, and was active in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed mechanics, woodworking, and carpentry, and found great joy in time spent with his family. He loved hunting, cooking, keeping up with the ore boats, traveling, and spending time at the family’s summer cottage on Round Lake.

In addition to his parents, Arthur and Lillian, Art is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruthie on February 4, 2010; son Joseph; daughter Terri; step-father Millard Armstrong; and his father- and mother-in-law, William and Leona Spincich.

Survivors include his children Arthur Teske of Gladstone and Scott “Tubie” (Erin) Teske of Newberry; grandchildren Joe Teske of Newberry, Anton Teske of Traverse City, Tunisha Carlson of Gladstone and Chantal Chappel of Traverse City; great grandchildren Kristi Clark and Kinsley Wilcox; great great grandchild Xavyer Clark; siblings Elmer Teske of Newberry, Gary (Kay) Teske of McMillan and Lorraine LaSalle of Grand Rapids; along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday September 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.

Memorials may be directed to the Tahquamenon Education Foundation in his honor.
