Obituary For Arlene Anne Black

Arlene Anne (Wyers) Black passed away on May 11, 2026, in her hometown of St. Ignace, Michigan. She was born on December 6, 1942, in Norwalk, Ohio, to Richard and Elfa (Hanville) Wyers.

Arlene lived a beautiful life surrounded by a large extended family and many dear friends, all of whom will miss her deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity through her husband of 65 years, Gerry; her children, Dawn and Steve, and Steve’s wife, Joan; her grandchildren, Kyle and his wife, Molly, Lauren and her husband, Joey, Hayley and her fiancé, Steven, and Mackenzie; as well as her great-grandchildren, Wendy and Hank. She is also survived by her sisters, Cindy, Chris, Beth, and Jeannie. The number of lives Arlene touched is far too great to name, but she loved each person deeply and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Arlene faithfully served the people of Mackinac and St. Ignace through her work at Mackinac Straits Hospital, where she worked for nearly 30 years before retiring. She cared for her community with kindness, compassion, and dedication.

She enjoyed art, reading, traveling abroad, and rocky road ice cream. Above all, Arlene leaves behind a tremendous legacy of love, generosity, and compassion that will continue to live on through the family and friends she cherished so deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Moose Lodge 999.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moose Lodge 999 in honor of Arlene.
