Anja Sinikka (Salminen) Mackie, age 90, of Rudyard, Michigan, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 10, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan, with her son Jonn at her side. She was born on August 28, 1935, in Jämsä, Finland, to Joonas and Ida (Korpinen) Salminen.

During her young adulthood, Anja attended culinary school. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Max Mackie, and together they welcomed two sons, Jonathan and Mark. In 1976, they moved to the United States, raising their boys in several states before returning to Max's birthplace of Rudyard in 1985.

Anja was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who lived out her strong Christian faith each day, radiating love, kindness, and compassion to everyone around her.

Anja had a unique laugh that brought smiles to those around her. Her family and friends meant everything to her. A formally trained singer with a beautiful soprano voice, she shared her gift by singing in many churches and choral events.

Anja is survived by her son, Jonathan (Billiejo) Mackie; grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Olivia, and Brooke (Dustin); and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kentlee Jo, Dexter, and Shay.

Anja was preceded in death by her husband, Max; son, Mark; and her ten siblings.
She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 PM with the burial to follow.

Anja’s final resting place will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Kinross, Michigan
