Angela Marie Barrette, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, passed peacefully into eternal life on July 23, 2026. Born on July 8, 1925, in DeTour, Michigan, to Menard and Mae Goetz, Angela lived a long and beautiful life marked by family, faith, love, and an unwavering spirit.

Angela married her treasured husband, Jim Barrette, on August 4, 1945, and together they were blessed with a large and loving family. She lived with a generous heart, a playful spirit, and a steady devotion to family. She made home her priority, cooking, caring, and bringing everyone together, yet she still found time to serve her community with purpose and enthusiasm. In retirement, she and Jim cherished their winters in Florida, where they embraced new adventures with joy and formed lifelong friendships.

In her later years, Angela’s spirit and essence radiated in a new and ever more special quality. What many might have seen as suffering became, for her family, a profound unveiling of the extraordinary character she had forged over a lifetime. As her body grew weaker, her spirit grew stronger in gratitude, tenderness, humor, and hope. Her tenacious “I can” spirit, her refusal to surrender to self pity, and her willingness to embrace whatever each day brought became a living lesson in courage. She taught her family how to meet life with resilience, joy, faith, and an unshakeable will to adapt.

Angela is survived by her children, Karen (Blaine) Tischer, Jim (Mary) Barrette Jr., Joe (Donna) Barrette, Bill Barrette, Sharon (Bob) Fillipps, Terry (Yolonda) Barrette, Madonna (Greg) Benson, and Tony Beacco, a dearly loved friend of the family, as well as 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Angela was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; son, Dan Barrette; brothers, James Goetz and Bill Goetz; and her sisters, Virginia McPhee and Kathryn Geyer.

Angela was devoted to her faith. She believed deeply in the beauty, peace, and promise that awaited her after her passing. Her family celebrates the joy of her life and prays her lovingly into eternal rest.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 245 N. Ontario St. DeTour, MI 49725. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 12:00 Noon, with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Angela's family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful caregivers who walked alongside her during her final years, caring for her both at home and, later, at Cedar Cove. Their compassion, patience, and loving presence brought comfort and dignity to her days, and their care will always be remembered with immense gratitude.
