Convicted Sex Offender from Lansing Arrested at Canada Border for Drunk Driving

Yesterday Sault police officers arrested a 65-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan, who is listed on the state’s sex offender registry, for impaired driving.

Police said the man was intercepted by officers with Canada Border Services.

His breath sample into an approved screening device registered above the legal limit.

Sault Police were dispatched to the CBSA Sault Ste. Marie port of entry where they took custody of the accused.

The accused was transported to the Police Services Building where he provided multiple breath samples to a qualified technician, all of which registered above the legal limit.

Darryl Urbanski, who is on the sex offenders registry for crimes committed in 1998, is charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Urbanski is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Urbanski was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to be in court on Oct. 5.
