WEXFORD COUNTY, MICH. In February 2026, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac
Post began an investigation after a woman reported that she believed she was being tracked by a GPS
device.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect, Jason Jenema, 49, was hired by the victim to
install modifications to her vehicle at a local repair shop in Cadillac. After the work was completed, the
victim began receiving alerts on her mobile phone that a GPS device was within her proximity.
A tracking device was ultimately located inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. A search
warrant was conducted on Jenema’s cell phone, and additional evidence was located.
Jenema was charged with one count of tracking device: placement or installation on a motor vehicle
without consent.
He was arraigned on August 13 in the 84 th District Court in Wexford County. Jenema was given a
personal recognizance bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 2 at 9:00 a.m.
Troopers were assisted by the MSP Technical Services Unit and the MSP Crime Laboratory.
