OTSEGO COUNTY: On August 7, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to a single-vehicle injury crash on northbound I-75 near Alexander Road in CorwithTownship.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by a 65-year-old man was traveling north on I-75 when he got into a verbal argument with his 30-year-old male passenger. The passenger allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and turned it, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
Both men were transported to a local hospital by Otsego County EMS. The passenger suffered minor injuries. After being released from the hospital, troopers advised him that he was under arrest. The man fled on foot before being caught by troopers and arrested for domestic violence, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and resisting and obstructing police.
The driver suffered serious injuries from the crash.
This investigation is ongoing and awaits arraignment.
Troopers were assisted by Otsego County EMS.
