Bay Mills Man Found Deceased After Being Reported Missing

BAY MILLS — After searching for Bay Mills tribal citizen Druid Lake Warner, 21, throughout the day, Bay Mills Police Department has located him, deceased.

BMPD followed their Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons protocol and began searching for him once he was reported missing. Throughout the day officers worked with area law enforcement and BMPD K-9 Niibin. Once his vehicle was located at Naomikong Point, Niibin tracked his scent to location. BMPD coordinated operations with Michigan State Police, U.S. Border Patrol, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, and Bay Mills Conservation, with MSP taking lead.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. BMPD will be coordinating with Michigan State Police on the investigation, with MSP taking lead. Bay Mills Victims Services & Chippewa County Victim Services are available to assist family and friends with counseling.

Additional information will be released when the investigation is complete.
