Indians sweep Fox Motors at home

The Soo Indians welcomed Fox Motors to the area for a two-game weekend series. The Indians provided an impressive outing walking away with two wins.

Colin Goff opened the scoring on Saturday at the end of the first on assists from Kole Altergott and Robbie Landis.  Ethan Chambers extended the score in the second on a nice pass from Curtis Hubbard. Goff (Rob Landis, Scott Vanderhoff) to add his second of the game before Fox Motors finally got on the board late in the second period. The Fairbanks Icedogs (NAHL) tender, Goff, completed his hat trick prior to the period ending to give the Soo a 4-1 lead after two periods.

Neither team scored in the third period and Taylor White earned the win in net.

On Sunday, Fox tried something new by getting the first score on a powerplay goal.  Not standing for it, Kyle Stevens answered with his own goal (Cole Peterson, Alex Fruend) to even it up at one apiece.  In the second period, the Indians turned on the heat with four unanswered goals: Seve Litz (Kole Altergott, Colin Goff), Fruend (unassisted), Altergott (Litz, Fruend), and Fruend (Grady Coppo) scored his second goal of the game.  Fox later added a goad in the third leading Indians’ goaltender, Taylor White, to his second big victory of the weekend. The Indians will close out the calendar year 2021 next Saturday and Sunday in Troy, MI against the Oakland Grizzlies.
