Obituary For William Joseph Palmer
William Joseph Palmer, age 70, died on April 17, 2023, in the comfort of his own home in Barbeau, Michigan. He was born in Jackson, Michigan on October 6, 1952, to Everett Otto and Carol Helen (Fisher) Palmer.
Bill grew up in Jackson with his 3 siblings and graduated from East Jackson in 1970. He served with the U.S. Marines from 1972 until 1975 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. After his time in the service, he attended college at both Michigan State University and Jackson Community College while working at the local area golf courses.
Since he was a kid being in the Upper Peninsula visiting the EMOZ his dream was to live in the UP, and he finally made his dream a reality when he moved here in 1997 over the next several years he tore down several little cabins to ultimately build his own cabin with his bare hands. His daughter Beth and his grandson Donny will see to it that all his unfinished plans come to pass there at the Whip and the memory of B.P. will always be there!
He was the groundskeeper at The Oaks in Kincheloe for 26 years until his retirement. He was an active board member at The Oaks for 26 years. He took great pride in his work and everyone that knew him knew that he went above and beyond in anything he put his hands to! He put everything into that golf course doing whatever was necessary for it to be top of the line!
Bill loved dog sledding, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, tree jobs and of course golfing! He most recently had been looking forward to fishing again. A lot of his time could be found being spent with his grandson/main man Donny! He cherished him and they were in his own words “two peas in a pod”! His absolute best friend. When asking Bill how he was doing you could always count on this response” I’m fair to Michigan”! You are loved by many and will be greatly missed B.P.
Bill is survived by his significant other Susan Myotte. His daughters; Beth Marie Palmer- B.P. Jessica Sue Brueggeman, April Lynn Brueggeman, and Tiffany Dawn “Frog” Maleport/Zackary James Maleport(son-in-law); son, Jason Joe Delambarde; and grandchildren Donevan, Kierstin, Skyler, Kiarie, James, Clint, and Curt, Colton and Carter sister Sandra Faye Palmer-Lewis; and brothers, Everett Vernon Palmer.
