Obituary For William Joseph Leclerc

William “Bill” Joseph Leclerc, age 74, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, left this planet peacefully at the Ball
Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born March 20, 1951, in
Burlington, Vermont, to Roland and Shirley (Fondry) Leclerc.

The Leclercs moved to Sault Ste. Marie through Roland’s service in the military. Bill graduated from
Loretto in 1969, and married Cathy Wagner in 1975, and they started their family in 1979.

Bill probably wouldn’t want his obituary to focus on his career or life path. He would want people to
know he did his best, that his best was good, and that because he was “Bill Leclerc”. He was proud of
himself and what he created, including his three kids.
Bill would probably hope people remember that he was passionate and an artist, skilled in carpentry,
woodworking, drawing, and designing. And that he had an expert knack for using expletives in everyday
moments. He enjoyed cooking and baking, repurposing various items, feeding animals and birds, playing cards with his kids, and watching TV.

Most importantly, he would want people to know that 3/4-inch nap rollers are the only way, and if
anyone tells you otherwise, they are wrong.

Bill was intelligent, tough, and abrupt, but lovable. He will be missed with our whole friggin’ hearts.

Bill is survived by his faithful wife, Cathy; his son, Lucius (Kristine); his daughters, Deanna (Eric) Sherlund and Celesta Leclerc; along with his granddaughter, Sylvia; siblings and in-laws, Michael (Kay) Leclerc, Holly (Mark) Pingatore, Barbara (David) Allison, Peter (Cathy) Leclerc, Daniel Leclerc, and Scott Wagner; as well as many extended family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Shirley Leclerc; brother, David Leclerc; and in-laws,
Richard and Sally Wagner.

Per Bill’s wishes, no services will be held, but he would welcome friends and family to get together and
enjoy food and memories. As such, lunch will be available Saturday, September 13, from 1:00 to 3:00
p.m. at Little Italy Restaurant in the lower level of the C.C. Hall, 201 Sheridan Dr. Sault Ste. Marie, MI
49783.

Bill’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Ball Hospice House. They are eternally grateful for the
care and compassion they demonstrated during his time there.
