William "Bill" James Einar Raappana

Bill was born in Laurium, Michigan and lived in Michigan his entire life. He lived and worked in Detroit before moving back to the Copper Country and working in the Copper Mine at White Pine. He also worked as a Merchant Marine. He was an Intake Counselor and House Manager for the Sacred Heart Treatment Center in Detroit and Memphis. Bill was in treatment at Sacred Heart and on his journey of sobriety. He was able to work at Sacred Heart and help others on their journey to sobriety.

Bill is survived by his daughter: Jeanine Lazusky (Brian) of Orlando, FL; son: Gary Raappana (Christine Havala) of Orlando, FL

granddaughter: Marisa Lazusky of Orlando, FL; and grandson: Kevin Shannon of Detroit, MI. Bill is also survived by his brother: Paul Raappana (Sandee) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; niece: Saara Raappana (Eric Doise) of Marshall, MN, and his many cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Einar Raappana, Clara and Leo Okkonen and his sons: Glenn Raappana and William Raappana, Jr.

Cremation has already taken place and according to Bill’s wishes, no public services will be held.
