Obituaries

William H. “Bill” Mitten, age 72, passed away on May 1, 2025, at his home in Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan. He was born on March 27, 1953, in Sault Ste. Marie to Harold and Mae (Strong)
Mitten.

Bill attended Special Education classes through the Sault Public Schools and worked at the Soo
Sheltered Workshop. He loved food, motorcycle rides with his brother-in-law, boat rides and his
many trips to Colorado.

Bill was a person whose strength, spirit and positivity touched all of us in ways words can
scarcely express. He lived with challenges most of us never truly understand. But to define his
life by disability would be to miss the essence of who he was. What truly defined Bill was not
the obstacles he faced but the grace, courage and humor with which he faced them.

Bill is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Tim Boucher; and so many special
friends who will all miss him dearly.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mae; and brothers, Ron Mitten and John
Mitten.

A Mass of Christian Burial with be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s
Church, 320 East Portage, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.

Bill’s final resting place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
