William “Boone” Earl Ames Jr, age 67, of Cedarville, Michigan, died on July 9, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Boone was born in Sault Ste. Marie on October 23, 1955, youngest of four children, to William Earl & Ruth Margaret (Beacom) Ames.

Boone grew up in Pickford, Michigan and graduated with the Class of 1973 from Pickford High School. After graduation he joined the workforce and was hired at U.S. Steel Quarry as a laborer and later worked on Mackinac Island.

Boone loved the great outdoors and could be found hunting and fishing in his free time. He played softball for many years on the Ted’s Country Store team and was known for his skills in playing spoons.

Boone is survived by his sisters, Neva Perry, Margaret (Charles) Izzard, and Velma (James) Graham; along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Final resting place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, in Bruce Twp., Michigan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
