Virginia “Copper” Garrett passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023, with family by her side. She was born on January 15, 1943, in Toledo OH to Milton McCreery and Virginia née Harwood McCreery.

Copper had friends near and far as she accompanied her husband Ken on his many job assignments throughout the Great Lakes regions and Florida as he worked many years in marine construction. Her address book was about 3 inches thick with contact information of all the friends she made over the years. She was a shopper extraordinaire and always could find the best bargains, teaching these skills to her daughter-in-law, and granddaughters.

She and Ken retired to the Soo where Ken was born and raised and where they also had many friends. Ken preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by a daughter Darcy Harwood Brazen and her partner Kate, by sons Greg (Karen) Wessendorf and Jeff Wessendorf, stepdaughter Christina Garrett, sister Cathy McCreery, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and special brother-in-law Bernard Wood who was her companion in recent years. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and stepson Tim Garrett.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Friends may call that same day at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the My Michigan Medical Center Ladies Auxilary.
