Stanley Leroy Schnurer, age 88, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on April 28, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Sault. He was born on May 2, 1937, in Manistique, Michigan, to Orlen and Agnes (Carey) Schnurer.

Stanley dedicated many years of his life working as a mechanic at R & R, where his strong work ethic and steady presence left a lasting impression. Alongside his beloved wife, Diane, devoted over thirty years to foster adoption, opening their home and hearts to children in need. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished the time they spent together. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, fishing, gardening, and birdwatching, as well as taking scenic car rides and sharing picnics with those he loved.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Kandi (Greg) Wright of Sault Ste. Marie, Sean Schnurer of Sault Ste. Marie, Rebecca Schnurer of Monterey, California, and Matthew (Jamie) Schnurer of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Kayla Sowle, Georgia Wright and Aurora Schnurer; and brother, Gary (Bonnie) Schnurer of Yuma, Arizona.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Orlen and Agnes; and siblings, Ronald Schnurer, Janet Benson and Marilyn Schnurer.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026.

Stanley’s final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Brimley, Michigan.
